It must be some sort of record. The second Swedish minister resigned after only a few days in office. Culture minister Cecilia Stego Chilos resigned because of “financial irregularities”. Cecilia is a bad girl as she admitted not having paid her television license fee for 16 years, and not paying employer taxes when she employed a nanny. Trade Minister Maria Borelius resigned only a few days earlier for pretty much the same reasons (tax-related). The new center-right government is damaged because of these two resignations. Ms Borelius blames media-pressure for resigning because they made “”a normal family life impossible”. Poor thing, those darn media people. The prime minister insists his government will recover from the scandals.

The scandal has hit Fredrik Reinfeldt’s new centre-right government less than two weeks since it was formed.
